The Right Word, Not The Wrong One... Duuhh

Here's a sentence from Mrs. Ravenbach's Way…

"Did you know that in France, they eat the snails? Disgusting little creatures that they boil and put back into the shell. Loathsome curled-up brown bits of cooked slime."

Loathsome means gross and disgusting.

Read the sentence out loud.  Ask yourself, "are there words that could be better?" I decided that "cooked" might not be the perfect word.

What about:  baked, gross, awful, brown, tough, wet, crusty, icky... What word is the perfect word? Here's what I chose...

"Did you know that in France, they eat the snails? Disgusting little creatures that they boil and put back into the shell. Loathsome curled-up brown bits of warm slime."

"Warm slime" sounds so gross and awful and pukey! "Warm slime" is way more yukky than "cooked slime." I can't tell you how happy I was that I made that sentence better, just by changing one word.
